Christmas in July

My idea of Christmas, whether old-fashioned or modern, is very simple: loving others. Come to think of it, why do we have to wait for Christmas to do that?

– Bob Hope

While COPILOT Cares addresses a number of important causes both local and international, few bring the kind of unbridled joy of their “Christmas in July” initiative. Started by President Dr. Moby Kazmi and his colleagues, this annual tradition has become a large endeavor that connects with more and more hospitals every year.

While many organizations coordinate donations of toys for children in hospital during the winter holiday season, COPILOT Cares has found a way to spread the same sense of excitement and happiness in long summer months. This is when children who are often unable to join their peers in summertime activities can truly use a dose of hope and cheer. And this gives these children another time of year to look forward to.

COPILOT Cares also works in collaboration with Dr. Bobby Kalotee and his organization, Friends for Good Health, for which Dr. Moby Kazmi is the South Asian Chair. Friends for Good Health is a large charitable organization, and in particular, COPILOT cares collaborates in their efforts to send toys to children in developing nations such as El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Guatemala, Grenada, and Malawi. Dr. Kalotee has been Co-Chairman of Toys for Tots since 2006, and partnership with his Friends for Good Health organization, allows COPILOT Cares to connect on this and a number of charitable initiatives.

A Home For Hope

Creating a safe and stable environment for children who have lost their parents is crucial if they are to thrive after the emotional trauma they have suffered. COPILOT Cares supports initiatives for orphanages to help with basic needs, but also to pay for counselling that helps nurture young people and give them self-confidence.
